Advocating Change
In 2012 Mme Sarah Sibiya together with her family went into Vusumuzi informal settlement with the aim of identifying a few families within the community that were destitute and in dire need of help.
Like in most informal settlements in the country, Vusumuzi has a high level of unemployment and the majority of the people in the community struggling to make ends meet. Mme Sarah also realised that most of the children in the community were left without any regular meals. Some of the children would go o bed without food, while others sourced food from nearby dumpsites, she decided together with a few volunteers to build a shelter from corrugated iron, (shack) where they could provide the children at least 1 decent meal for the day and safe place for them to be cared for during the day while their parents or guardians were unavailable. This is how Tshepang Care Centre was born.

Tshepang care centre, located in the heart of Tembisa, is a charitable foundation dedicated to helping those in need.
